MyTUM-Portal
Technische Universität München- 11.2024, Wissenschaftliches Personal
The Magnetic Fields Group (MFE) is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join our interdisciplinary research team. The PhD position supervised by PD Dr.-Ing. Bernhard Gleich. TV-L E13 MIBE
The primary goal of this project is to develop an innovative system for focusing magnetic nanoparticles within a continuous water flow using precisely calculated magnetic fields. These nanoparticles are coated with a specialized surface treatment to bind specific metals from the water. The recovered metals will be extracted using subsequent chemical processes.
Your Responsibilities:
- Simulation of Fluid Dynamics: Perform computational simulations to model water flow behavior and optimize fluid dynamics.
- Magnetic Field Distribution Analysis: Conduct simulations of magnetic field distributions and field strength using software tools to guide the design of the system.
- Prototype Design and Construction: Collaborate with team members to build a working prototype of the magnetic focusing system.
- Software Development and Data Analysis: Utilize programming skills for data processing, simulations, and system optimization.
Your Qualifications:
- Master's degree (or higher) in Physics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong background in electromagnetic field theory and experience with fluid dynamics simulations.
- Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS, MATLAB).
- Experience with prototype design and hands-on laboratory work.
- Knowledge of at least one programming language such as C++, Python, and Java.
- Experience with nanotechnology, particularly magnetic nanoparticles.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication skills in English (German proficiency is a plus).
What We Offer:
- An opportunity to work on a cutting-edge research project with significant real-world impact.
- A collaborative and innovative working environment with access to state-of-the-art laboratories and resources.
- Professional development opportunities, including workshops, conferences, and training.
- Flexible working hours and a dynamic team.
Send your application via email to gleich [at] tum.de with the subject line: "Research Associate Application - Magnetic Field Simulation". Please submit the following documents:
- A cover letter outlining your motivation and relevant experience.
- Your CV, including a list of publications (if applicable).
- Certificates of your academic degrees.
- Contact information for at least two references.
We look forward to your application!
