Research Assistant (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H, fixed-term, full-time or part-time (currently 4 hours per week)

Full-time employee (part-time employment is also possible by arrangement). The position is initially limited for 3 years subject to funding approval with the possibility of extension (in accordance with § 72 HHG in conjunction with § 2 para. 1 Wiss Zeit VG). The possibility of a doctorate is given.

In addition to the possibility of a doctorate, the position offers the opportunity to join the young research team of the department and an international and interdisciplinary group of doctoral students who are supervised at the department. Your work will contribute to practical projects.

You will have the opportunity to discuss your results not only at scientific conferences, but also with stakeholders from industry.

Tasks:

  • Development of key research results in leading European research projects on the sustainable transformation of the petrochemical industry (including the Horizon EU projects EU-China Bridge and Transcience)
  • Development and interpretation of scenarios of a sustainable industry; a leading industrial system model framework is used and further developed for this purpose
  • Collaboration and independent scientific publications as part of a dissertation
  • Scientific collaboration in research and teaching in the field of sustainable industrial and energy system transformation

Requirements:

  • University degree with good to very good grades in systems analysis, economics or engineering, geography, industrial ecology or comparable degree programs
  • Interest in familiarizing yourself with central resource flows and value chains in petrochemicals and plastics production
  • Interest in economic issues (energy and product markets, cost and investment accounting)
  • A thorough and independent way of working
  • A high degree of organizational skills
  • A good command of written and spoken English

An advantage:

  • Study experience abroad (in Europe)
  • Experience in the creation and interpretation of energy scenarios for Germany and Europe
  • Knowledge of programming (Python and/or R)
