Join our dynamic team at Sanofi Germany (Frankfurt) in the Integrated Drug Discovery department. We work at the cutting edge of innovation, leveraging robotics and artificial intelligence and are currently building an integrated laboratory enabling seamless execution of the full Design-Make-Test-Analyze (DMTA) cycle to accelerate compound discovery and optimization.
We are looking for a highly motivated Automation Lab Engineer as part of our interdisciplinary team. You will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing our automated lab infrastructure. Collaborating closely with scientists, data analysts, and technicians in a highly interdisciplinary team, you will ensure the smooth operation of our integrated robotic platforms.Furthermore, the optimization of existing automation workflows as well as developing new solutions is part of your assignment, as well as the integration of new machines and operations and adaptation of automation protocols. Your expertise will contribute to the efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of our drug discovery processes.
The position requires the ability to work independently to contribute to the discovery of novel molecules with state-of the art technologies, artificial intelligence (AI) tools and robotic workflows. Your work forms the basis for delivering valuable high-quality synthetic drugs and other modalities to improve the lives of patients.
Main responsibilities:
- Maintain and troubleshoot robotic systems on the automated platform ensuring optimal performance.
- Continuous improvement of the automated platform and workflows with enthusiasm for the latest tools and technologies, collaborate with AI scientists for continuous optimization of the automated platform
- Implementing and maintaining automated workflows on a cross-disciplinary DMTA cycle platform
- Develop and implement protocols for chemical synthesis, purification, and characterization. Establishing/monitoring and QA (Quality Assurance) processes
- Monitor and calibrate automated instruments to meet quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data streams and enhance process efficiency.
About you
Experience:
- 3+ years of previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully operate an automated lab.
- Demonstrated experience across multiple technology projects, preferably in the pharmaceutical discovery environment, esp. using robotic systems
- Proven problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
Soft and technical skills:
- Strong expertise in automation of workflows and optimization of processes
- Strong capability of developing and implementing protocols and scripts on automated systems with programming experience, e.g. in Python
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative skills, willingness to integrate in teams
- Proficiency in highly effective oral and written communication.
Education:
- Ph D or Master and 3+ years of experience in chemical engineering, bioengineering, life science technology or related a field
Languages:
- Fluency in English, German is a plus
