The Tübingen AI Center seeks a Technology Transfer Project Coordinator to help shape initiatives that bridge cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) research and real-world applications. Collaborating closely with the Chair of Machine Learning (ML) Engineering and Technology Transfer, the Tech Transfer Coordinator will advance the AI Center's mission "Machine Learning in the World".
Tech Transfer at the Tübingen AI Center
The Chair of Machine Learning Engineering and Technology Transfer, recently established and headed by Prof. Peter Gehler, focuses on the engineering dimensions of machine learning and drives the development of entrepreneurial activities at the Tübingen AI Center.The Tübingen AI Center is a joint research initiative of the University of Tubingen and the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems , dedicated to advance the frontiers of machine intelligence. The center connects world-class researchers with a growing network of startups and companies in close collaboration with the Cyber Valley initiative and the ELLIS Institute Tübingen .
Cyber Valley fosters entrepreneurship through access to venture investors, incubation programs and innovative support for turning research into startups. The Tech Transfer Chair at the AI Center will strengthen and expand this growing ecosystem by promoting networking and entrepreneurial activities at the interface between AI research and industry.
Key initiatives include talent development, enabling AI startups, and delivering transformative technological solutions to address real-world challenges.
Your Responsibilities
Technology Transfer Activities
Development and implementation of effective mechanisms to support technology transfer, education, entrepreneurship and societal impact of AI
Establishing and overseeing connections with stakeholders from public, academic and private sectors, including coordinating and collecting strategic advice and feedback
Organizing network building activities, workshops, social events, conferences and coding schools
Representing the AI Center's Tech Transfer activities in meetings, conferences and public relation activities
Supporting activities in technology transfer, entrepreneurship, and new initiatives at the Tübingen AI Center, alongside educational programs for university students, researchers, and industry partners
Project Management and Administration
Overseeing and organizing daily operations of the group
Project management tasks related to the implementation of tech transfer measures at the AI Center or third-party funded projects (e.g. DFG, BMBF, EU), including project deliverables, status reports, finances and administration
Documenting relevant statistics
Your Profile
Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in a relevant field
Strong written and verbal command in English and German (C1 level or higher)
Candidates should meet several of the following competencies:
Experience in project management, finances and reporting in either an academic or industrial environment
Experience in establishing networks and managing multi-stakeholder environments
Strong communication and organizational skills; we work with diverse teams and cultures
Experience working in research environments and collaborative networks
Experience in managing complex and new projects, ideally with a focus on technology innovation

Compensation is based on the public service sector's collective agreement (TV-L), including comprehensive social benefits and a public transportation subsidy. We offer a development and training program, and the possibility for flexible working hours, taking individual circumstances into account.This is a permanent position at the University of Tübingen and can in principle be shared.
