Working Student Junior Navigation Testing Engineer (d/f/m)

Location: OttobrunnStart: as soon as possible
Duration: 6-12 months
You will contribute the evaluation of present and under-development services of Galileo (Global Navigation Satellite System) by supporting the ongoing verification and validation activities. You will join the Airbus Navigation Department at the Airbus site Ottobrunn near Munich.With more than 100 engineers and 25 years of experience it is one of the leading expert groups in Europe for the development and implementation of the European satellite navigation systems EGNOS and Galileo.

- Support of test definition, preparation, execution, result analysis, and reporting
- Prepare and execute tests on smartphones to evaluate their ability to process satellite signals
- Evaluate feasibility, implementation, and performance of new Galileo services at user segment level
- Contribution to the development of result evaluation software
- Maintenance of test equipment and laboratory hardware, and preparation of new test set-up
- Study and research on current android developments w.r.t. navigation and positioning
- Enrolled full-time student in the area of Engineering or an equivalent field of study.
- You have some experience with scripting languages such as Python or Matlab
- You are willing to get hands on with operating hardware for setting up tests, handling measurement equipment, and extracting measurement data
- You have good interpersonal and very good verbal and written communication skills in German and English
- Ideal candidates have some prior experience with satellite navigation systems, their system architecture, user positioning concepts and data processing aspects
- Ideal candidates have some practical experience in: GNSS receiver measurements, GNSS data processing, Spirent signal generator, setting up test hardware for signal quality measurements, software defined radio, 5G evaluation equipment
