Field Service Engineer - Dresden, Germany

Servomex, the world leader in gas analysis and part of the FTSE 250 Spectris Group, is excited to be creating a new role for a Field Service Engineer (FSE) to join our team, based in Dresden, Germany. The talented FSE will provide support for Servomex Analysers and Systems at a hugely exciting time of rapid growth in the region.The successful candidate will conduct service training for customers and Servomex employees, as well as provide technical support to customers and distributors throughout Germany and EMEAI region.
The opportunity is based in Dresden, with travel throughout Germany – and occasional travel within the EMEAI region.
About the Opportunity:
- To service, repair and commission all Servomex products to ensure that the Company’s reputation is maintained and enhanced through continually exceeding customers’ expectations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships (point of contact) with key customers in the semiconductor (SEMI) industry, ensuring their specific needs and requirements are met.
- Working with advanced analytical methods, such as gas chromatography (GC), and performing precise oxygen and water measurements at PPB and PPT levels.
- Carry out FAT and SAT of systems.
- Actively be involved with quoting service activities and pursuing potential business.
- Provide assistance with technical sales enquiries for Servomex products and help make our customers aware of the advantages of maintenance contracts.
- Complete repair, service and commissioning reports and any other required documentation.
- Ensure that Servomex equipment meets the relevant health and safety and local safety requirements and if not, ensure the customer accepts responsibility.
- Communicate with relevant departments concerning problems with Servomex equipment and customer requirements using quality and customer complaint procedures.
- Provide assistance with systems testing and build to the Systems Engineering department to ensure that systems meet the required performance and specification prior to shipment.
- Participate in Customer Service improvement initiatives as required by the Service Manager.
- Travel required across Germany, with occasional trips to other European countries and the Middle East.
- Participation in forecasting and service planning calls.
- Any other duties and responsibilities as required by the business.
- To be based out of our office in Dresden (commute or be willing to relocate to the Dresden area).
Essential skills and experience:
- A proven track record of working within a FSE position, repairing instrumentation as well as installing and troubleshooting; it would be a distinct advantage to have knowledge/experience of working with complex gas analysers – however comprehensive training will be provided to the successful candidate.
- Specific experience/expertise in the SEMI industry would be a huge advantage.
- Strong technical/electronic/instrumentation background with exceptional attention to detail; combined with the ability and desire to quickly learn and adapt to sophisticated instrumentation is vital.
- Experienced in providing varying levels of customer training.
- Desire, ability and passion to build strong working relationships with customers.
- Experienced in working within the following industries - oil and gas, industrial gases, cement, food and chemical.
- Experience with Start-up, Commissioning, FAT and SAT.
- Ability to interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Results-oriented attitude, combined with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experienced in working remotely with minimum supervision.
- Willingness to travel within Germany and EMEAI region.
- Fluent in English and German (written and spoken).
- Full clean driving licence.
Desirable skills and experience:
- Solid business acumen and a willingness to learn about our products/technology.
- Knowledge of Salesforce.
- Experience with using SAP.
Essential qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or closely related subject/discipline.
Desirable qualifications:
- ‘Safety / Hazardous’ related certifications / qualifications.
Location: Dresden (with flexibility for travel across Germany - specific focus on regions in East Germany). The successful candidate will also travel to EMEAI regions on occasion.
Work Pattern: Monday to Friday.
