The project
The advertised position is part of the collaborative project “Elektronen-Licht-Kontrolle (El Li Ko)” financed by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture, where eight research groups from Oldenburg and Göttingen aim to achieve control on electron-light interactions at the nanoscale.
The research to be carried out in Prof. Cocchi’s group entails the simulation of laser-induced dynamical processes at organic and hybrid interfaces. Particular focus will be devoted to the role of electron-nuclear couplings as well as energy- and charge-transfer phenomena.
Ab initio methods based on real-time time-dependent density functional theory and Ehrenfest dynamics will be employed to complement the experimental activities carried out by the partner groups in Oldenburg and Göttingen.
Our requests
Prerequisite for employment is a qualifying university degree (master's, diploma, or equivalent) in physics as well as proven experience with ab initio simulations using time-dependent density functional theory. In-depth understanding of quantum mechanics, knowledge of at least one programming language, and proficiency in English (oral and written) are required.
A keen interest in collaborative research and synergistic connections with experiments is expected.
Our offer
The position is intended to lead to a doctorate in physics at the University of Oldenburg, a young and dynamic university in the north-west of Germany. Located in Lower Saxony, Oldenburg offers a family-friendly environment and high-quality life standard.
It is part of the Bremen/Oldenburg metropolitan region hosting over 2.3 Mio people and providing efficient public transport infrastructure for national and international connections.
