Working Student (f/m/d) in Mechanical Engineering/Aerospace Engineering/Electrical Engineering/ etc.
Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) Weßling Student/Werkstudent
The DLR Institute of Communications and Navigation is dedicated to mission-oriented research in selected areas of communications and navigation. Its work ranges from the theoretical foundations to the demonstration of new procedures and systems in a real environment and is embedded in DLR's Space, Aeronautics, Transport, Security and Digitalization programmes.
What to expect The Optical Satellite Links department conducts research in the field of high-throughput laser links and transceiver development. This encompasses topics ranging from research into atmospheric turbulence and signal processing techniques to the development of high-speed communication technologies and systems.
As Optical Ground Stations Group, we are responsible for the ground segment of this research. Present work encompasses among other things taking part in the development of a small optical ground station, as well as support in the further development and operation of the Optical Ground Station OGSOP.
Your tasks Design, Assembly, Integration and Testing of an experimental optical ground station Operation and further development of existing optical ground stations Support in the design of a high-power laser uplink system Support of experiments and measurement campaigns Your profile Experience in Python Experience in CAD (preferably SolidWorks) Prior lab experience Experience in optics, optomechanics and optics simulation (e.g. Zemax) preferred We look forward to getting to know you!
