We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical Engineering team at RWE Offshore Wind. As part of this role, you will be working within a specialized, high-skilled team of geotechnical engineers who bring in-depth knowledge across various fields of geotechnical engineering.Our team is globally distributed across RWE offices in locations such as Japan, Germany, the UK, the US, and Denmark so you are willing to travel internationally. This global presence ensures diverse perspectives and knowledge-sharing across the organization.
About the role:
- Support, develop, and continually improve offshore geotechnical data acquisition, interpretation, and reporting
- Preparation of specifications, technical tender assessment, and acquired data collation and review, ensuring our surveys deliver high levels of quality data to optimise engineering solutions
- Perform quality control (QC) of large, diverse geotechnical datasets
- Manage projects efficiently, ensuring timely and effective delivery
- Carry out geotechnical design and support design processes
- Conduct and review geotechnical surveys and interpret survey data
- Review and critique technical reports and provide technical guidance
- Utilize and interpret geotechnical in-situ and lab test data thoroughly
Job requirements and experience:
- Offshore geotechnical experience and experience in supporting all aspects of an offshore windfarm including HDDs, cables, and foundations
- Have the ability to communicate findings to management, external stakeholders, and internal packages and develop project geo-risk registers
- Working with the integration of data sets and familiarity working with the international standards and ASTM requirements
- In-depth knowledge of industry technical codes, processes, and regulations
- Hold considerable experience in geotechnical engineering for both offshore and onshore environments and geotechnical software and tools
- Familiarity with contractor-provided systems for in-situ tests and sampling, along with their pros and cons
- Understanding of laboratory testing, including both basic and advanced tests, with the ability to manage labs and develop lab testing specifications
- Have a comprehensive understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation about geotechnical work
Advantageous but not essential:
- Experience in rock mechanics and drilling
- Skills in scripting and programming, with experience in cloud-based solutions
- Experience in managing large technical datasets; familiarity with SQL
Even though we are flexible with the location, we are looking for someone who can have a weekly presence in the office.
