Your Role:As our Customs Compliance Officer, you’ll play a critical role in managing the lifeline of our operations: import and export logistics. Your work will ensure compliance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, keeping our innovative solutions moving across borders.
Key Responsibilities:
Customs Compliance:
- Ensure all import/export activities comply with local, national, and international customs regulations.
- Prepare and submit customs declarations with precision and timeliness.
- Stay informed on the latest customs laws, tariffs, and trade agreements to minimize risks.
Import/Export Operations:
- Coordinate shipping schedules to guarantee smooth clearance of goods.
- Liaise with freight forwarders and customs brokers to streamline supply chain processes.
- Resolve customs-related issues swiftly to avoid shipment delays.
Documentation Management:
- Maintain meticulous records of import/export documentation, including commercial invoices, certificates of origin, and bills of lading.
- Ensure compliance with licensing and permits for specialized shipments.
Cost Optimization:
- Negotiate shipping rates with freight forwarders to achieve cost efficiency.
- Monitor duties, taxes, and tariffs to manage operational expenses effectively.
Internal Collaboration:
- Work closely with procurement, production, and logistics teams to plan shipments.
- Communicate with suppliers and customers to ensure smooth processes and proper documentation.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks in customs and shipping, proactively mitigating issues.
- Address disputes or claims related to customs or shipping promptly and effectively.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in customs compliance or import/export operations.
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, documentation, and INCOTERMS.
- Experience with ERP systems and logistics software.
- Fluent in German and English, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in customs compliance or trade management (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist - CCS).
- Experience in the manufacturing sector.
- Familiarity with free trade agreements and trade compliance programs.
