As Supplier Development Engineer you are a crucial member in the supplier quality development team, with a preventive attitude and a resolutive dedication implementing mid- and long-term strategies. You regularly conduct supplier audits or assessments, with focus on systems and processes, and identify areas for improvement.Developing and implementing of supplier development plans belongs to your daily tasks while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive supplier improvement initiatives. Delivering training programs to suppliers on quality control and process improvement techniques allows you to bring your experience to the suppliers on how they deal with their business.
Jointly with the material field teams, you analyze supplier performance metrics and providing regular updates to management. A strong relationship with suppliers to ensure open communication and collaboration is something you understand as crucial for your success.
How You'll Make an Impact- Development and qualification of suppliers, including definition and tracking of measures to secure quality and EHS through a preventive approach.
- Application of SQM Methods and Tools to secure development and qualification of suppliers (APQP, PPAP, 8D, RCA, FMEA, etc) including EHS.
- Consistent (and consequent) follow-up on actions and commitment out of supplier development activities.
- Conduct audits and assessments at suppliers, with strong focus on Systems and Processes incl. ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001, SE CoC, ISO27001, Product Safety Assessments, Due Diligence in the Supply Chain Act (LkSG) as well as Material Field Roadmaps.
- Performance based steering of suppliers. Support (and eventually lead) fast response teams with contingency procedures (risk-based approach) as well as continuous evaluation of risks at suppliers, loop-back from material field working groups (based on actual performance). Specific definition of approach (onsite presence, special audits, blocking issue, conditional release, black-listing, etc).
- Monitoring of released suppliers' performance, overall supplier score card will describe the actual situation and the focus points for further activities (immediate or regular/reaudits) as well as jointly development of Material Field Roadmaps to see opportunities and risks, and define the right measures to secure material availability and process stability.
- Master's degree or equivalent in engineering or related field.
- Long term experience in supplier development and quality management, ideally with experience in the fields of R&D, Manufacturing or Project development.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with quality methods i.e. APQP, FMEA, 8D, RCA. as well as vast experience in establishing EHS routines (i.e. Gemba, SWAT, etc) as SiFa. Knowledge of supplier management standard processes and industry trends.
- Certificate as Auditor (an advantage is considered VDA 6.3 / 6.7).
- Team player, accurate work, high level of self-initiative and flexibility is required as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken). An advantage is fluency in German.
- High ability (100%) to travel domestically and internationally, especially in USA.
