Software Engineer for Visualisation Research (f/m/x)
The job
The Department of Environmental Informatics is looking for a scientist specialising in visualisation research and data processing.
Your tasks- Building 3-D and 4-D visualisation studies and digital twins of research sites using Unity or VTK/ParaView
- Working on data processing, visualisation and animation for research projects dealing with geothermal research or energy storage
- Research and evaluation of suitable visualisation methods and GUI/interaction design
- Communication of research results to scientists, stakeholders or the public (this includes scientific articles and reports, but also evaluation studies, videos or interactive prototypes)

- University degree (Master) in a project-related field (computer science or engineering sciences)
- Creating Unity projects and extending the functionality of Unity via C#
- Experience with VTK or ParaView and extending ParaView using Python scripts
- You should be well-versed in a programming language. Unity requires C# and ParaView requires Python, so being experienced in these languages would be advantageous. But we are confident that you can learn either if you are already familiar with another language
- If you have experience with any of the following we
- • Experience with the evaluation of visualisation methods,
- • UI and UX design
- • Geographic Information Systems (e. g. ArcGis, QGIS, etc.) or the structure of geoscientific file formats
- • Software to create geological models (e. g. GOCAD, Leapfrog, GMS, etc.),
- • Meshing software, ideally open-source software (e. g. GMSH, TetGen, etc.),
