At the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Institute of Communication Technology, the Junior Professorship in Quantum Communication offers three project positions as
Research Associate / Postdoc (m/f/x)

(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting as soon as possible. The positions are limited until December 31, 2025. The period of employment is governed by § 2 (2) Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – Wiss Zeit VG).
Tasks: We seek applications for three postdoctoral positions in the design of resilient paradigms for the future quantum-classical Internet. The project "Resilience for the Quantum Internet - Q-TREX" aims to make quantum communication in research and industry usable for public communication networks by integrating quantum communication into future 6G networks and existing fixed networks.

The focus is on the investigation, design and realization of an integrated end-to-end resilience for the future quantum-classical Internet.

Study of the requirements of medium access control (MAC) at the link layer of the quantum-classical communication system. This has to be researched in the case of entanglement distribution from a cross-layer perspective. Entanglement generation will include the modelling of the protocol for managing entanglement requests and scheduling entanglement generation for different users.

Finally, the design of reliable protocols for entanglement generation and distribution based on either Automatic Repeat Requests (ARQ), Forward Error Correction (FEC), or Hybrid ARQ (HARQ).

Requirements: university and Ph D degree in physics, mathematics, computer science or equivalent; strong programming skills are highly recommended. Knowledge of quantum mechanics and focus on experimental physics is also an important metric. Candidates should be proficient in English and have good oral and written communication skills.
