About the Role
We are partnering with a leading financial services institution to appoint a Financial Crime Monitoring & Analytics Specialist to support the ongoing development and optimisation of its AML and Fraud Prevention framework.
This is a highly technical and data-driven role, sitting at the intersection of Financial Crime Compliance, Technology, and Data Analytics. The position is focused on enhancing transaction monitoring capabilities, validating detection scenarios, analysing trends and risks, and ensuring monitoring systems remain effective, efficient, and aligned with regulatory expectations.
Working closely with Compliance, Risk, IT, and external service providers, you will play a key role in strengthening the firm's financial crime controls through data-led insights, system optimisation, and governance oversight.
Responsibilities- Own and develop transaction monitoring systems used to detect money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and other financial crime risks
- Validate and optimise monitoring scenarios, indicators, thresholds, and parameters to improve detection effectiveness and reduce false positives
- Analyse monitoring outputs, trends, and data patterns to identify risks, control gaps, and enhancement opportunities
- Partner with technology teams and external providers to ensure monitoring solutions meet evolving business and regulatory requirements
- Oversee outsourced monitoring-related services and act as a key stakeholder for vendor and third-party management activities
- Design and produce management information, dashboards, and risk reporting to support Financial Crime Compliance decision-making
- Leverage large datasets and BI tools to generate actionable insights and improve monitoring effectiveness
- Manage and maintain user access frameworks, roles, permissions, and governance controls within financial crime systems
- Support internal audits, regulatory reviews, and control assessments through technical analysis and reporting
- Collaborate closely with Compliance, Risk, Data, and Technology teams to drive continuous improvement across the financial crime framework
- Several years of experience within Financial Crime Compliance, AML, Fraud Prevention, Transaction Monitoring, or a related area
- Strong understanding of AML and financial crime risks, typologies, and regulatory expectations
- Hands-on experience with transaction monitoring, screening, or financial crime technology platforms
- Proven background in monitoring rule calibration, scenario validation, system optimisation, or model effectiveness reviews
- Strong data analysis and reporting capabilities, ideally including experience with Power BI or similar BI tools
- Experience working with large datasets, data models, and analytical frameworks
- Ability to interpret business and regulatory requirements and translate them into practical monitoring solutions
- Experience managing third-party providers or outsourced services is advantageous
- Knowledge of AML and financial crime regulations within the German or broader European financial services environment is beneficial
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Technology functions
- Analytical, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset with a strong attention to detail
