Research position (m/f/d) 65% EG 13 TV-L for three years (PhD candidate) Chemodiversity in plant-herbivore interactions
The project is part of the research unit FOR 3000 (https://uni-bielefeld.de/chemodiversity/) on the topic "Ecology and Evolution of Intraspecific Chemodiversity in Plants". The research unit consists of nine teams spread over Germany that work together on this exciting topic. As a research unit we very much enjoy learning from and with each other, as we cover different research areas. To our yearly workshops we invite national and international experts to gain further insights into different aspects of chemodiversity.
As part of our young investigator module, our early career researchers have the chance to widen their knowledge and skills in workshops of their choice.
We seek for a candidate with a keen interest in chemical and molecular ecology and skills in chemical analytical and molecular techniques as well as experimental experience with plants and insects. Central task is the research in the project, i.e. conducting field and greenhouse experiments, bioassays as well as analytical (HPLC; LC-MS) and molecular analyses (e.g. with molecular markers). Further tasks are the rearing of plants and insects, performing data analyses and writing scientific manuscripts and organisational support within the department and the research unit.
Prerequisite is a master or diploma in biology, environmental sciences or a related topic. Excellent oral and written command of scientific English is required. Ideally, the candidates should also be experienced with multivariate statistics (e.g. with R). We expect the candidates to be able to work both independently and as member of a team.
