Research Associate (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H, temporary, part-time (currently 20 hours per week)

Part-time with half the regular working hours of a full-time employee. The position is initially limited until 31.12.2025 (qualification position according to § 2 Abs. 1 Satz 1 Wiss Zeit VG). The possibility of obtaining a doctorate is available.
Responsibilities:We are looking for a highly motivated person for our research group specializing in theoretical and applied research in the area of modeling and numerics of partial differential equations with applications in the life sciences and/or engineering. The main goals are:
- Integrating current scientific approaches into existing methods and codes
- Working on a research subfield in numerics of partial differential equations
- Independently modeling current biological, medical or other applications
- Writing scientific reports and publications
- Supporting the field of numerics and mathematical modeling in research and teaching
Your Profile:
- A good to excellent degree in mathematics from a scientific university. The required degree must be available by the start date at the latest.
- Very good knowledge in the field of partial differential equations and finite elements
- Interest in current applications (e.g., drug development, testing medical products in the Virtual Eye, understanding processes in biological clocks)
- Programming skills
- Good English skills
Desirable:
- Software experience with deal.ii, C++
- Ability and experience in clearly and accurately presenting complex issues in German and English
- Experience in preparing and supervising courses
- Thorough and independent working style
- High level of organizational skills
- Teamwork skills
