The Cluster of Excellence “Physics of Life” (Po L) offers, subject to the availability of resources, a position as
Research Data Manager (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
starting as soon as possible. The position is limited until December 31, 2027. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – Wiss Zeit VG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (usually Ph D).
Tasks:
- development and implementation of strategies for the management of research data, including sharing and archiving of large experimental datasets, numerical codes, etc.
- development and implementation of data and metadata standards, as well as the creation of data libraries, data management protocols and plans, in cooperation with the researchers at Po L and consortia such as the NFDI4Bio Image
- development of measures for quality assurance, reporting and documentation of data, data analysis tools and processes, such as onboarding, training, and maintenance for the implementation of electronic lab notebooks
- ensuring compliance of data policies with regulations of third-party funding bodies with regard to FAIR principles, for the best possible integration of the Cluster of Excellence into the international open science community
- fostering and maintaining interfaces to research data infrastructures and service facilities within and outside the Cluster of Excellence
- identification and collection of available data sets and the development of new analysis techniques as well as the conception and application of data analysis tools to solve specific scientific questions in direct, scientific cooperation with the researchers involved in the cluster
- training and advising researchers on the principles, methodology and standards of research data management and giving project-related advice in all phases of the data life cycle, from research to archiving
Requirements:
- university degree in computer science, physics, mathematics or a comparable subject
- at least 3 years of professional experience in research data management, research software management or in the field of big data
- knowledge of relevant tools and relevant programming languages
- knowledge of in the field of biophysics and bioimage analysis are beneficial
- strong communication skills in German and English
- excellent organizational skills
- Experience in an interdisciplinary environment, project management and IT administration are desired.
