[ref. d34286416] Darmstadt - Postdoc Medicinal Chemistry - Targeted Protein Degradation (all genders) (full-time/part-time)
Your role:
You will be a member of the Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Design (MCDD) department at our main research site in Darmstadt, located in the thriving greater Frankfurt/Main area, Germany.
In this role, you will contribute to one of our collaborations within the targeted protein degradation field. As part of Germany's Clusters4Future initiative, you will work with different partners in the Proxidrugs consortium, including the groups of Prof.Knapp (Goethe University Frankfurt) and Prof. Hausch (TU Darmstadt), towards discovering E3 ligase binders. Together with the research groups of Prof. Thomä and Prof. Correia at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland) you will aim at discovering novel molecular glue degraders for difficult-to-drug targets.
You will be designing and synthesizing small molecules, developing structure-activity-relationships, and optimizing molecular properties. You will closely collaborate with the scientists at the EPFL or Proxidrugs consortium and with our medicinal and computational chemists in Darmstadt.You will be mentored by experienced drug discovery scientists and your personal development will be supported by trainings adapted to your professional interests and needs.
The position is limited until 31 December 2026.
Who you are:
- PhD degree in chemistry and optionally post doc experience. Medicinal chemistry know-how is desired.
- Solid understanding and experience with modern technologies applied to organic synthesis.
- Demonstrated high level of creativity and independence in solving complex scientific problems, bringing in a collaborative & enthusiastic spirit into our dynamic multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication skills, fluent in English (written and spoken).
