Senior Program Manager, EUAIR Safety
The successful candidate will have strong project/program management skills that involve a capacity to consider technical accuracy, analytical and communication capabilities, and a hands-on enthusiasm to deliver fit-for-purpose WHS (standards, procedures, best practices) across the EUAIR Network.
Your role will be to coordinate critical WHS programs execution among a team of developers that align technical content with the enablement of your Operations Partner’s ownership of the programs. Additionally, this includes, identifying improvement opportunities, and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.You will thrive in a flexible environment and not hindered by ambiguity. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytic talent, and leadership are essential, prescribing improvement strategies and guiding the improvement effort to effective implementation.
You will maintain close relationships with our stakeholders in order to understand our highest priority execution targets and opportunities that have a significant, measurable impact across our Global Programs framework. You will work collaboratively across business units and geographies assisting in the development of the long-term strategy and operational direction for WHS programs.
You will be a motivated manager of others with a proven record of accomplishment developing competency in team members. You will act as a proxy for the Regional Air Safety Manager/ WHS leader EU, as and when required.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:- Assisting with the delivery of safety performance and monitoring, in line with personnel, team and functional goals and objectives
- Facilitating safety at EU AIR Gateways and supporting the WHS team across the network, including Cargo operations
- Supporting the implementation of WHS programs within EU AIR Operations, and monitoring the EU Gateways WHS Safety Audit/Oversight Program
- Driving and monitoring compliance with Amazon AIR WHS standards and local (national), EU legislation
- Leading WHS investigations and incident prevention programs
- Ensuring that AIR Safety and WHS data systems are kept accurate, maintaining all required supporting documentation
- Working closely with the Dangerous Goods (DG) team and supporting them when needed
- Assisting with the coordination and training of new team members
- Arranging, facilitating and contributing to AIR Safety related meetings
- Supporting the launch of new Gateways
- Visiting and proceeding with gateway assessments in order to determine areas of improvement.
- Collaborate with across internal stakeholders (within several geographies) to align on program goals and resources, specifically focused on an ISO 45001 Management System Standard implementation.
- Develop, review, approve and improve Global WHS Programs’ internal policies and procedures in the respect of the countries WHS Legal and Amazon Global Standards requirements.
- Develop and improve WHS Change Management processes and recommend improvements to programs scoping, building, testing and deployment across the company.
- Monitor and implement metrics to measure and communicate EUAIR WHS program achievements.
- Communicate the overall program roadmap and provide periodic status updates to internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to the Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly Business reviews and developments for WHS and AIR Safety.
- Coordinate a portfolio of projects from inception to delivery. These may also be global in nature.
- Acting as a proxy for the Regional Air Safety Manager/ WHS leader EU, as and when required
- This role will report to EUAIR WHS leader
- Work with stakeholders and partners, including Operations, Audits, and Training to develop programs effectively and support effective implementation.
- Provide programs decision support, insights and recommendations through data gathering and information analyzing.
- Monitoring the gateways' performance
- Investigating events and precursor events
- Working proactively on the potential issues before they before they escalate into major problems
- Analyzing data in order to identify trends, patterns, and insights that will help the organization to make informed decisions and develop effective strategies for growth and improvement.
- Developing procedures in order to standardize operations
- Working with internal stakeholders to streamline the existing processes
- Being part of the visits and audits at gateways in order to assess compliance, identify potential gaps, and ensure operational standards are being met according to established protocols.- A Bachelor degree or equivalent level of qualification in line with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF)
- Aviation experience is required, air cargo operations is preferred .
- 5 to 10 years of experience in Safety Management, or similar experience in project/program management.
- ISO Standards and Safety Management System development and implementation experience required; ISO 45001 experience strongly preferred.
- Proven record of accomplishment of sound decision making, taking ownership, and delivering results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills that convey complex ideas in a simplified manner.
- Ability to build strong relationships and influence others while working in a cross functional environment.
- Ability to adapt well to growing environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
- Flexible approach to work. Able to organize own priorities, workload and travel.
- Willingness to travel 40% to 50%.
- Must have motivation, enthusiasm and autonomy.
- Able to prioritize in complex, ever-growing environment.
- Able to work to tight targets and deadlines.
- Master Degree (Management or Industrial Engineering discipline) preferred.
- Demonstrated program ownership and consistent delivery on commitments.
- Bias for action, good attention to detail and genuine commitment to follow-through.
- System thinking and solid analytical skills; cannot only work with data but can identity root causes, recognize patterns, and solve complex problems.
- Knowledge and experience in regulations and standards for AIR operations
- SMS qualification
- Safety investigation qualification
- Relevant experience in ramp and/or warehouse operations safety
- Practical working experience in Lean, 5S and Kaizen methodologies
- Experience in incident investigations
- Strong IT skills
