Job Description
The job in brief: Job Title - Senior German Accountant
Working model - hybrid from GermanyTeam - the Accounting team within the Finance department
Level - Professional
Location - Munich, Germany
Contract - Permanent (EUR 36 h/week)
Travel time required - Occasional
What your impact will be:
- Financial Reporting: prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS standards and the annual statutory financial statements in compliance with HGB (Handelsgesetzbuch) for our legal entity in Germany.
- General Ledger Oversight: oversee all general ledger activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries, payrolls and intercompany transactions.
- Tax Compliance: with the help of the external consultant, ensure timely and accurate tax filings, including VAT, income tax, and other statutory filings required in Germany.
- Relationship with external auditors regarding Reporting and Statutory Financial Statements as well as relationship with other departments (IN/OUT AFC) for accounting implications of new initiatives/processes/products
- Process Improvement: Continuously improve financial processes, systems, and controls to ensure efficiency and accuracy in all accounting operations.
- Team Lead: Coordination of the German accountancy team composed of a couple of people.
Qualifications
Your expertise:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Business or similar
- At least 3/4 years of relevant experience in similar positions
- Proficiency in German (preferably mother tongue) and English along with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good knowledge of accounting and taxation in Germany
- Experience in managing tasks and assignments in connection to external and internal auditors.
- Advanced level of Microsoft Excel skills including lookups, pivots, macros and modelling
Desirable:
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, frequently under time pressure
- Cross-cultural sensitivity, self-motivated and used to working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
