Leading the way to sustainability has never been more exciting than today. The Sustainability Team of RWE Supply & Trading (RWEST) is shaping the transition of the group's international energy and commodity trading business. The role offers a unique opportunity for energy transition enthusiasts.

You will take over responsibility for the entire Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) regulation and reporting practice at RWE Supply & Trading GmbH. You will monitor external developments and drive the efficient implementation of regulatory ESG requirements on national and international level.

You will advise the commercial teams on how to comply with external requirements and support the external stakeholder management. You will be part of a diverse, creative and international team. About the role
  • You will monitor, review and implement national, European and global ESG regulations and disclosure requirements at RWEST.
  • You lead and represent the sustainability reporting practice for the Energy and Commodity Trading segment within the RWE Group. This includes the development of reporting methodologies for the business and coordination with the auditor.
  • You enable a comprehensive reporting approach by connecting financial and non-financial reporting obligations in close cooperation with Accounting, Controlling and Group Sustainability.
  • You develop the greenhouse gas accounting and forecasts for Scope 1, 2 and 3 of RWEST across all activities including freight trade, investments and industrial customer business.
  • You work with experts at group level on the implementation of new standards and reporting processes, e.g. in line with CSRD, EU taxonomy and GHG Protocol.
  • You analyse ESG regulations with regard to new business opportunities which might arise and develop strategic proposals for the commercial business.
  • You coordinate RWEST's ESG certifications and voluntary ESG ratings such as EcoVadis. You identify suitable certification schemes to meet the requirements of RWEST customers and other stakeholders. You take a strictly value-oriented approach and ensure optimal rating performance through necessary measures to enable additional sales opportunities and revenue streams.
  • You will represent RWEST positions in group-wide projects and external events and initiatives.
  • You will raise awareness of sustainability requirements, risks and opportunities and drive the integration of sustainability into the company DNA, e.g. by providing internal workshops, supporting internal communication on achieved successes and developing processes for a further integration of sustainability assessments into decision making.
Job requirements and experience
  • University degree in economics, business management or a comparable degree.
  • Profound expertise on relevant ESG regulations such as CSRD, GHG protocol, EU taxonomy.
  • Basic knowledge about financial reporting in line with IFRS.
  • Track record in implementing regulatory requirements in large organisations.
  • Expertise in external ESG communication with a diverse range of Stakeholders.
  • Proven results in value-oriented ESG management.
  • Experience with conducting materiality assessments.
  • Intrinsic motivation to take ownership, drive execution and deliver results.
  • Ability to work across hierarchies in an intercultural corporate environment.
  • Analytical skills with an ability to think creatively.
  • Advanced presentation skills to prepare an efficient decision making.
  • Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work on sensitive matters in a fast moving environment.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
Advantageous, but not essential
  • Knowledge of the energy industry, energy trading and international commodity markets.
  • Track record in management consulting and project management.
  • Fluent in German.
